There are websites and there are blogs. The way to get the best of both is the blogsite. Because I prefer to use Wordpress software, I also call the blogsites I make, Wordpress Websites.

Blogsites are Great for Social Media

The blogsites or Wordpress Websites are not for people who just want an electronic brochure to sit on the web. They are for people, companies, and organisations that have realised that they need to keep a stream of conversation flowing with their customer base, followers, friends, or marketplace. They are great for social media interaction.

Because of the blog-element, blogsites are a fast and powerful way to get your message across on an ongoing and immediate basis. This is not just talk – because of the way blogs are structured, search engines interact with them before the get to websites, so the material you put on your Wordpress website will be indexed long before most websites.

We read differently on the Internet, that’s a given. Therefore, when it comes to writing for the web, there is no way it can be “business as usual.” Web content and web copy (yup there’s a difference) needs to be written to be found.

The power on the Internet now lies with the searchers - the people who type the words into the search engines like Google. Do you know what words to include in your articles and/or copy so that your audience/market can find you?

The algorithm also uses something called the Authority index of a site - a measure of how solid a reference work the site/blog/page is. Finally, the PageRank (PR) of a site will affect the SERPs and it's eventual position in the index.

Joomla! Day Durban 2008 was great. I spent an entire Saturday with about 30 other Joomla users/developers at the lovely campus of Varsity College in Durban North learning about a whole lot of Joomla stuff.

I'm now so stoked about Joomla 1.5 that I desperately need to migate all my Joomla 1.0 sites. I'm freaked about security after Brandon telling us how easy it is to hack a Joomla site and after using Joomla 1.5 I'm really into the features and the much easier interface.
